Our leadership team brings decades of combined experience in fire service, emergency response, and community engagement—guiding Conifer Fire Department with a focus on safety, innovation, and service.


Curt Rogers began his firefighting career in 1981 as a cadet with the North Fork Fire Department. He was appointed Fire Chief in 1996 and has been a dedicated leader ever since. Throughout his career, Curt has been actively involved in fighting and managing significant wildfires, including the Buffalo Creek, Lower North Fork, Hayman, and Hi Meadow Fires. A Colorado native, he grew up in the Pine and Buffalo Creek areas. Curt currently serves as Fire Chief and resides in Buffalo Creek with his family. He is passionate about community safety and dedicated to providing exceptional fire and emergency services.


Chief Shirlaw joined Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District as a volunteer firefighter in 2007. He has served ICFPD as wildland firefighter, EMT, structural firefighter and Deputy Chief prior to becoming Fire Chief in 2016. Chief Shirlaw is the first full-time Fire Chief and remains the only career firefighter at ICFPD. He is a Colorado native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County.
Education & Experience
He has attended numerous fire service training opportunities throughout the U.S., and he is an active fire service instructor conducting classes for the fire service on the Highway 285 corridor.
Elected by our residents, the Board of Directors provides fiscal oversight and strategic direction, ensuring that the fire district remains transparent, accountable, and responsive to community needs.
